Plagued Dreams Itch Launch
This project was planned using the Agile sprint method for development. The game concept was thought of by me on September 14th, 2023. After 12 weeks of production, the final product was submitted for a grade on December 16th, 2023.
This project started as one for school, but I wanted to include it on my itch page because I was the team lead for this project, and I feel it turned out well for one of my first games. The team had weekly standups and meetings outside of class that had to be facilitated and tracked with the help of our Scrum Master. The main focus for the game was to create a game that focused more on level design, story design, and puzzle designs, rather than in depth combat.
Some major things that I learned during this project's first development phase are:
- UI is incredibly important to immersing a player within the game. The better the UI/UX, the more likely a player will enjoy and remember your game.
- Utilizing Agile methodologies and Scrum planning will help ease the planning and development process.
- Documenting code and concept designs will keep the game cohesive and will solve any coding/concept errors that arise.
- Animations are also very important to have polished within the game because they affect the overall immersion and realism.
- Layers within the game are also crucial to the overall polish because if objects are not layered correctly, they will be in front of/behind the wrong objects.
- Having an in-game menu is very important for a complete feel within your game.
